Marketplace
Humanizing commerce with authentic connections on Facebook
The primary focus of Facebook’s Marketplace for the past year has been to evolve the surface into an immersive shopping experience for young adults to discover affordable and unique finds from sellers and communities they trust, while also matching their personality and supporting their personal values.
Much of this was achieved via design. We employed language friendly to YA’s, gave them control over their experience, and created curated experiences that met their personal values in categories and interests that are most relevant for them.
Shop, socially
Integrate commerce communities, allowing YA’s to see posts and listings from all their groups in one place
Feels fresh
Engage and delight YA users by refreshing how the experience feels, looks, and behaves
User controls
Give YA shoppers power over their experience based on their engagement, connections, and more
Principles
I worked with other members of the Marketplace leadership team to draft these core principles, which were later delivered to the org at an All Hands.
Bring people, businesses, and communities closer together
Protect everyone’s safety and privacy
Make every commerce experience equitable and inclusive
Deliver simple and reliable commerce experiences
Marketplace sizzle reel
I worked with my Product Design counterpart to produce a sizzle reel highlighting all of the great work the team was doing.
